I have gone around and around about the Children‘s Theatre Workshop this summer, and I think it is best to postpone.
There are two potential options for rescheduling. If there is enough interest, I believe both of these options are feasible and would be how I would like to proceed with the Children‘s Theatre in the future.
- This fall and into winter, I would like to have a Children‘s Holiday Musical. I think Elf Jr. would be fun and appropriate. Rehearsals would be after school, and since this is a smaller cast show, we should have no problem filling a cast. For this musical, I would have grades Third through Ninth able to participate.
- Next summer, I would like to start a brand new Children‘s Theatre Camp. This camp would run for an entire month, with rehearsal during the day. Again, the grade level will be extended so students grades 3 through 9 would be able to participate. A month of rehearsal allows for schedule flexibility, shorter rehearsal times, and a chance for family vacations to take place without greatly hindering the students’ rehearsal schedule. My plan for this event is to have one large show that all the grades participate in multiple performances, potentially a week of performances or two weekends of performances. I think a great show to start would be Newsies or Newsies Jr. There are plenty of details to work out, but I think this would be an amazing undertaking!
I want to thank you all for hanging in through this new time.
